Questions, answered
How does it keep everything in sync?
The host device sends its playback position to our server 10 times per second. Every other device continuously adjusts to match. The system measures network delay and compensates for it automatically, so even on different Wi-Fi networks, everything stays lined up.
What devices work with this?
Anything with a modern browser -- Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge on any computer or phone. We also have a desktop app for macOS (Windows and Linux coming soon) and a native Android app. If it can play YouTube, it can sync.
Do all devices need to be on the same Wi-Fi?
No. Devices connect through our cloud server, so they can be on completely different networks. Your phone on cellular, your laptop on home Wi-Fi, your friend's computer across the country -- all works.
How accurate is the sync?
On a normal internet connection, devices stay within about 20-50 milliseconds of each other. That's way below what you can perceive -- even watching two screens side by side, you won't notice a difference.
Can I watch with friends in different locations?
Yes. Create a room, send them the code, and everyone joins from wherever they are. One person controls playback (the host) and everyone else's screen follows along automatically.
Does it work with any YouTube video?
Yes -- any YouTube video or live stream. Just paste the URL. Support for other video platforms is planned.
